the preservation characteristics of youtube that you demonstrate highlight the importance or role of forgetting in the archive as not only legal agency (copyright, explicit content, etc.), but as a cultural/technological need to "forget." the idea of an excess of information or rather, information that becomes superfluous and harmful to (by slowing, clogging, complicating) the machine, archive, or functions of a society/self in remembering/retrieval/processing signify that the effort to retain, absorb, and move accompany a sort of purging.
