Digital Histories is a project by the community technology center DISKovery center in collaboration with Visual Communications, an Asian American film and media center that organizes the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Senior citizens (with Asian American background) were trained in using digital video technology and producing their own short videos a part of which can be watched online and was screened at this year's LAAPFF. Digital Histories is presented in four sections that foreground the history of Little Tokyo („Little Tokyo & Community“), specific cultural hobbies of the videomakers („Culture & Interests“), personal history („Personal Histories“) and aging („Growing Older“). All together more than 60 seniors participated in the project, 19 videos can be watched online and ten screened at the festival.
